Service is the virtue that determines the quality of our work. Whether we are called "coworker", "member", "volunteer", "intern", the essence of all activity here is service. In human care, for example, one person serves by caring and the other serves by being cared for. At a meal we serve each other with conversation, warmth and interest as much as with food; the quality of our interactions reflects the quality of our service. Service does not seek reward, and yet there is nothing as rewarding.
